How to book the skills test
Oregon DMV gives CDL skills tests at DMV offices and also certifies Third Party CDL Testers who give the same test for their own fee. Book a DMV skills test through DMV or contact a third-party tester directly; either way you need an Oregon CLP issued at least 14 days earlier and ELDT complete. If you test with a third-party tester you then pay DMV a Certificate of Test Completion fee plus the issuance fee to get the CDL.
Wait times and timing tips
DMV does not publish wait times. Third-party testers are usually quicker but add their own fee on top of DMV's certificate and issuance fees, so compare the total against the $145 DMV test. Knowledge and skills test results are each valid for six months, so do not let the CDL visit slip past that.

What CDL class do I need?
It depends on the vehicle weight rating, trailer weight, passenger use, school bus use, and whether hazardous materials are transported. The selector tool gives a starting point, and your state licensing agency makes the final determination.
Do I need ELDT before testing?
ELDT generally applies when you are getting a Class A CDL, Class B CDL, Class B-to-Class A upgrade, or a Passenger, School Bus, or HazMat endorsement for the first time.
Is HazMat ELDT different?
Yes. HazMat ELDT is theory training and must be completed before the hazardous materials knowledge test. The TSA security threat assessment is a separate requirement.
