No. BeginCDL.com is a study tool that prepares you for the knowledge tests your state gives. The real tests are taken at your state licensing agency. Our material follows the federal CDL test content (49 CFR 383), which is what every state uses to write its questions.

Yes. The knowledge test content is federal, so the same material applies in every state. Choose your state in the menu and each page adds the local details: where you test, what the agency is called, typical fees and wait times, and which industries use each license.

The study guides and questions are reviewed against the current Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations and the CDL manual sections they cover. State details on the state pages list the date they were last checked against the agency website.

A single module covers one test, for example Air Brakes or Hazardous Materials. A package bundles every module a license class or job needs, at a lower price than buying them separately. The Complete CDL Study Package includes every module and every endorsement.

Use the free CDL Selector: answer a few questions about the vehicle and work you plan to do and it lists the class, endorsements, and matching package. If you already know your class, the Class A, B, and C packages each include exactly the tests that class requires.

Your cart rolls them up automatically. When the modules you picked add up to the same or more than a package that contains them, the cart switches to that package so you never pay more than the package price. If the total goes above the Complete CDL Study Package, your cart becomes the Complete package.

Yes. Every product page shows the packages that include what you already own and the price difference. Add the package and you will have everything in it from the moment you check out.

Yes. The Introduction, which explains the CDL process and how to use the material, comes with every purchase at no charge.

Every purchase includes 120 days of access. On the product page or in your cart you can extend that to 180 or 365 days for a small one-time add-on. Access starts the moment your payment goes through.

If you buy the same product again, the new time is added to the end of your current access. If you buy a different product, its access runs 120 days (or the length you chose) from that purchase date.

No. You pay once for the study material and the access period you chose. There is no auto-renewal and nothing to cancel.

Yes. The study guides, quick reviews, and practice quizzes work on any phone, tablet, or computer with a web browser. Sign in from any device and your progress follows you.

Study guides, quick reviews, practice quizzes in practice and exam modes, a missed-questions mode that drills what you got wrong, and narrated audio you can listen to anywhere. Your progress and quiz results are saved to your account.

Each module has a full question bank. Practice mode shows the correct answer and explanation after each question. Exam mode runs the whole bank like the real test and scores you at the end. You can restart a quiz at any time.

It varies by test. General Knowledge is typically 50 questions, Air Brakes and Combination Vehicles are usually 25 to 30, and most endorsement tests are 20 to 30 questions. Most states require 80% to pass. Your state page lists the specifics.

They cover the same content areas and are written in the same style, but no study program has the actual state test questions. Our goal is that nothing on the real test surprises you.

Pass exam mode two or three times in a row at 90% or better. Then use the missed-questions mode until it comes up empty.

An account is created for you at checkout using the email address you enter. Your receipt and a sign-in link are emailed to that address, so use one you can check.

No. A failed payment is not charged. The most common causes are a typo in the card number or expiration date, or a card that does not allow online purchases. Try again or use a different card, and if it keeps failing, send us a message.

Yes. Every order has a printable receipt on your account page, and one is emailed to you at purchase.
